One of the most common Dewalt power tools you will find in any garage, work shop, or new home job site is the dewalt table saw.

The Dewalt table saw is one of the most frequently used tools for cutting precise widths by using the rip fence. But you can also use your dewalt table saw for cutting angles. Angle cuts are made easily by using the miter gauge.There is a built in slide on each side of blade for use of the miter gauge.

For those not familiar with how a Dewalt table saw miter works, its quite simple. There is a thick plastic angle gauge attached to a slide bar at one pivot point. It has a threaded handle that is used to lock the miter at the angle you choose. There is also a pointer attached to the slide to give you the exact angle that you are looking for. To set the miter to the desired angle, loosen the handle, turn the gauge to the setting that you wish cut and re-tighten. Place the slide in the slot on the Dewalt table saw, hold the board against the miter and slowly feed it though the saw.

For making precision cuts with your dewalt table saw you need to use the rip fence. This is a guide that attaches to the table that runs parallel with the saw. It travels from left to right in a free smooth action and locks down at the desired width you choose. You steadily guide the board you are cutting along the fence to give it a nice straight finish.

To do this use the bevel adjustment on the saw. Set the adjustment to the desired angle by using the crank and angle gauge on the front of your saw to tilt the blade. Use the rip fence again to make sure to get a nice straight even cut. This is great for making wooden boxes where you don’t want the appearance of over lapped boards showing on the corners.

A few safety precautions to keep in mind while using your dewalt table saw. 1) Never use your hand to push the board through the final few inches of the cut. Use a scrap piece of wood or a jig designed for this purpose. 2) Use the height adjustment to make sure the saw just reaches through the thickness of your material. 3) Always keep a guards in place, and in working condition.
